NEOM Water Transmission System

Tabouk Province, KSA

General Information

Client: NEOM

Neom is an entire new land with a 26,500 sq km (10,230-square-mile) transnational city and economic zone.

It will operate independently from the existing governmental framework with its own tax labor laws and and an autonomous judicial system.
Location: Tabouk Province, KSA
Completion Date: September 2021
Contract Type: Design, Supply, Installation Supervision, and Commissioning of the 12 Redundant PLC systems with central redundant client-server SCADA System.

Project Scope:

The Neom Water Transmission System project is intended to provide potable water supply from SWCC reservoir in Sharma to new constructed facilities in Neom. Potable water is drawn from Sharma reservoir via the main from Sharma Main Pumping Station to multiple Neom facilities including Neom Base Camp, Neom Management Camp, Neom Airport, and Neom Experience Center.

Process:

Potable water transmission & distribution involve pumping treated water from reservoirs through a network of pipes to reach consumers using high-capacity pumps and pressure-regulating systems to ensure efficient flow and consistent supply. The process is monitored to maintain water quality, optimize energy use, and meet demand by consumers.

Our Solution:

5 Redundant Schneider Electric M580 PLCs to monitor and control the water supply from the reservoir pumping station to facilities, and over 13 simplex M221 across the pipeline for valve chamber monitoring & control. All monitored and controlled by redundant with Vijeo Citect based SCADA system communicating with the PLCs via both fiber & GPRS connectivity, with Historical data logging & reporting.
