Project Scope:
With a desert climate and rapidly increasing power demands, Saudi Electric Company sought to boost power production with a new combined-cycle gas-fired power plant equipped with Turbine Inlet Air Chilling (TIAC) and Thermal Energy Storage (TES). Located in Qurayyah, on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, QIPP is the largest independent power generation project in the world with a total generation capacity of 3,927MW.

Process:
Turbine Inlet Air Chilling System prevents loss of power generation capacity when the ambient temperatures are above ISO condition of 15°C by maintaining the Inlet Air Temperature at ISO condition.

Our Solution:
Redundant Siemens S7-400H with 10 remote I/O panels with a total I/O capacity of around 1500 I/O points connected to the main redundant PLC on Profinet configured in a self-healing ring and integrated with the main power plant Siemens TS3000 DCS over Modbus TCP/IP.
